FAQ

Questions, answered

The platform, institutional pilots, participant data and how far the method has been validated. If something is missing, contact us.

The platform

What does DeepMindex actually measure?+

Three things, across a practice session: attention, physiological regulation and recovery. Attention comes from wearable EEG; regulation and recovery are read from PPG-derived heart rate and pulse-rate variability. Respiration is added where the setup supports it.

What hardware does a session need?+

Wearable EEG and PPG sensors, supplied as part of a pilot. Nothing is implanted and no clinic visit is required. Where a site already runs its own sensors, that is discussed during scoping.

Is this a stimulation device?+

No. DeepMindex records and interprets physiological signals. It does not deliver electrical stimulation, and no part of the platform is intended to treat or diagnose a condition.

What do participants receive after a session?+

An interpretable session profile covering the three measures, a note on signal quality, and the uncertainty behind each reading. Individual results are anchored to that practitioner's own baseline.

Pilots and deployment

How long does an institutional pilot run?+

Pilot length is set in scoping and depends on the protocol. The published tiers run from an eight-week research access pilot through to a custom multi-site programme.

How many participants can a cohort include?+

It scales with the tier — from a small validation cohort up to an unlimited multi-site deployment. The tier comparison on the home page sets out the current bands.

Do we need to change our curriculum?+

No. The platform is a measurement layer that sits alongside existing teaching. Sessions are recorded; the programme continues as it always did.

What does the instructor dashboard show?+

Cohort-level trends in attention, regulation and recovery over the length of a programme, with session-level detail available when a participant needs support. It deliberately does not rank participants against one another.

Data and ethics

How is participant data handled?+

Physiological data is collected under the programme's own consent process and reported back to the participant and their instructor. It is not sold, and no participant is identified in aggregate reporting. See the Privacy Policy for retention and sharing detail.

Can we export the raw signal?+

Yes, where the protocol requires it. Research access supports CSV export; larger deployments add API access alongside it.

Does the platform diagnose anything?+

No. DeepMindex reports on attention, physiological regulation and recovery during practice. It is not a diagnostic instrument and does not replace clinical assessment.

Validation

How confident should we be in a reading?+

Every session carries a signal-quality assessment, and segments that fail the threshold are excluded rather than averaged into the result. Readings are reported with their uncertainty rather than as a single precise figure.

How was the method developed?+

It builds on long-standing EEG and meditation research and on an existing body of EEG and PPG recordings, including three deep-jhana meditation recordings. Candidate features drawn from those recordings are subject to the applicable ownership, consent and data-use permissions.

Is the method independently validated?+

Independent validation is part of the programme, assessing reliability and generalisation. Validation results should be read from the published material rather than taken from a marketing page.
